About Aldita Gallardo

My greatest professional joy comes from delivering resources to powerful leaders who use them to open doors for everyone. This has been true in my time serving as program officer for the Fund for Trans Generations at Borealis Philanthropy, resourcing trans-led organizations and movements in the United States. As a formerly undocumented fat, disabled, queer, nonbinary translatina migrant from Lima, Peru, I understand from both personal and professional experience that systemic change is only possible when those of us with power and privilege grow through personal transformation.

I am committed to growing the capacity and building the infrastructure of mission-aligned organizations, and dedicate time on the following boards:

  • I serve as Advisory Board Chair of El/La Para TransLatinas, a San Francisco-based direct service nonprofit that supports and creates leadership development opportunities for transgender migrant women and femmes.

  • I am an advisor to New Seneca Village, a nonprofit nature-based rest and restoration residency for Black, Indigenous and women of color and nonbinary movement leaders.

  • I sit on the Board of Directors at Funders for LGBTQ Issues, a philanthropy serving organization working to increase the scale and impact of philanthropic resources aimed at enhancing the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer. communities, promoting equity, and advancing racial, economic and gender justice.

In my free time, I enjoy learning about ancestral healing practices, through plant medicine and studying Andean cosmology, and being on and with the land. As a lover of the arts, especially of symphonic ensembles, I am an observer of conductor cues from the audience. A proud auntie and dog mom, I treasure my time with my four niblings who live in my hometown of Tampa, Florida, and going on Northern California trails with my ESA chiweenie rescue, Peppers.

I am a guest on the lands of the Ohlone and Seminole native people.
